Amanda Brugel

(February 27th, 2010 (February 27, 2010 Toronto ON) Pointe Claire is a secluded community in that portion of the island of Montreal named"the West Island. The people who aren't familiar with this term generally believe that it's an separate island off the coast of Montreal but in fact it's a part of the city that's west. West Island is home to all things from Lachine west to the city of Lachine west. Amanda Brugel is said to originate from the West Island. However, this is not true. Brugel grew in Courtice in the town of Oshawa. She had a dream to be a dancer but the rapid growth of her body led to she outgrew the dancers she was with. She admitted in an article written by the Toronto Star that she is 6'1" tall while wearing heels. As I got bigger than my male counterparts, I resigned. Dancers who have been in the past often switch to acting, and Brugel wasn't an exception. Drama teacher at her high school helped push to Brugel into the direction she needed. She was encouraged to try out for roles in her school's production. After trying out, she ended up as the lead actress on stage in Anne of Green Gables. It was her turn to be awarded an Fine Arts Talent Scholarship to attend York University's Theatre Program which she completed from the program in 2000, earning a degree in Fine Arts. Since then, Brugel has been in 60+ productions both on big screens and smaller ones. The most notable was her fame when she was offered the performance as Rita on the award-winning TV show The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel, the only Canadian for the season 1 The Handmaid's Tale cast and only seen occasionally was the only Canadian.
