The single came out at the time she turned 19. It was a hugely acclaimed track by both critics and fans. The song reached the top spot in both Billboard Hot 100 and the Canadian Hot 100. Even Rolling Stone named it as one of the top songs of 2015. That same year, she debuted her album Know It All with the third song Scars to Your Beautiful being the first of five tracks which peaked on the Billboard charts, including those of the Canadian Albums Chart Billboard 200 as well as the Billboard Hot 100. The track was distinctive since a lot of people reacted to her interview with Rap-Up about her struggle to learn to love and accept herself. Cara is known for incorporating the themes of mental health and compassion and self-love in her music. The music that she has written is derived from her own struggle in overcoming mental health issues and insomnia. According to an Reuters Interview, her album has been described as a semi-tumultuous and half-perfected. Therapy helped her grow and advises people to seek help if necessary. Alessia Cara has been a Canadian artist since the year 1996. Her parents come from Italian origin. She was given a guitar by her parents when she turned 10 which ignited her passion for music. At the age of 13, she started covering songs she liked on YouTube to demonstrate to her fans that she had talent and brave enough to go after a career as an artist. Sweater Weather is one of those covers that led to her being discovered by EP Entertainment. This record label let her write new songs of her own.
